WALKER WARD

WALKER WARD IS ONE OF 11 SINGLE MEMBER WARDS ACROSS THE CITY OF WHTEHORSE

It was named after Walker Park in Nunawading, home to the Mitcham Tigers Football and Cricket Clubs,  Mitcham Tennis Club and Nunawading Gymnastics.


Walker Park was once owned by Edgar Walker, a prominent local identity in the district.   He owned and managed a major brickworks, was a local Councillor, and wasa major supporter of the Mitcham Football Club, allowing football matches on his land.   Council now owns this land known as Walker Park on Whitehorse Road Nunawading, adjacent to the Civic Centre.


Councillor Ben Stennett was re-elected to Council in October 2020 to represent Walker Ward.   Walker Ward includes the suburbs of Mitcham and Nunawading. (refer to map)
